HHS students represent Alamo Academies at ACE Event

Karina Chavarria and Joshua Cortez are top students in the Aerospace Academy at St. Philip’s.

Their role in the event was to talk to industry and education leaders from across San Antonio about their experience with Alamo Academies.

Alamo Academies is a partnerships between Alamo Colleges and local high schools that provides tuition-free career pathways into critical demand STEM occupations. Students earn college credits, participate in paid industry internships, receive training at St. Philips College and participate in hands-on learning.

The goal of the event was to showcase five areas of innovations in San Antonio: advanced manufacturing, aerospace, biosciences, technology and new energy.

The students had the opportunity to talk to leaders from the City of San Antonio, CPS Energy, Port of San Antonio, Southwest Research Institute, Department of Commerce, UTSA Institute of Economic Development and Alamo Colleges.

Way to go, Karina and Joshua!
