Power lifting Girls Receive Championship Rings

In a field dominated by men, the Moss Point School District Girls Power lifting team made a name for themselves only after their second year in existence under the leadership of  Coach Kyle Mickelson. These ladies were named South State Champions in April. The Moss Point High School Girls Power lifting Team is now ranked top 10 in the nation. After a  summer of workouts, collecting numerous community donations and preparing for the upcoming season, they will received their much deserved championship rings. “It feels good to have a state championship ring on our finger" says Coach Mickleson. He also stated that “the last time a Moss Point High athlete received a state ring was in 1987 for football, now its girls power lifting and it is AWESOME“.   Niya Cooper, who is ranked #1 in the Nation for her weight class says, "all of the 5:00 AM  practices and weekend workouts have really paid off. Our whole team strives for excellence, and we don’t expect anything less than perfection. This has shown through our winning South State,” says Cooper.  Trinity Cooper and Destiny McCants are also state-ranked in Girls Power lifting in the state of Mississippi.
